Sophus. Sophie. Stan M. Field. Merifield. Tan.

Sophus is my poet pseudonym. A nickname given to me after a viewing of Gladiator. I was dubbed Sophus Tanus Maximus. It stuck.

Stan M. Field is my novelist pseudonym, and day-to-day, it’s plain old Sophie Merifield-Tan. I gain comfort from the distance a moniker brings: separating my different selves into neat little boxes.

I have been writing poetry, short stories and various full length novels on and off for as long as I can remember. The prose genres I focus on are SFF: Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror, with a sometimes leaning towards the gothic. I’m putting this website together as a collection of tasters of my writing, bits and bobs relevant to writers that I find online, one or two personal goings on, as well as a log of my progression as a writer.

My main focus at present is finishing my novel Four and Twenty Blackbirds.

Apart from writing, I enjoy everything from reading, to gaming, to DIY and crafts, to films, current events, good music and good company. I strive to be a polymath, but perhaps have more of a tendancy towards being a jack-of-all-trades, master of none.
